WEIGHT LIMIT

EDCO wheels have system weight limit of 120kgs, unless specified differently on the product page.

System weight = bike + rider + apparel + accessories

RIM BRAKE PADS

The rim brake versions of our wheels use a specific construction of layered 3K carbon, with high-temperature wear-resistant resin and a special surface finish to optimize brake performance and minimize temperature hot-spots.

NOTE: USE ONLY WITH EDCO CARBON-SPECIFIC BRAKE PADS, SwissStop Black Prince or SwissStop Yellow King.

RIM & TIRE COMPATIBILITY

ROAD

Most of our rims have a 21mm internal wide. The maximum external width varies per rim depth, but is around 28 to 30mm.

There are no technical limitations in fitting a certain tire width. But In terms of aerodynamics, we advise you to use max. 28c. Anything bigger than 28c will negatively interfere the airflow. Independant test have shown an increase in drag when the tire width overshoots the width of the rim. Any decrease in rolling resistance by using a larger tire seems to be overruled by the increase of the air resistance.

In terms of comfort, you could go for larger than 28c. Especially if you anticipate the surface to be rough. It would allow you to ride with a slightly lower tire pressure.

So, there is not a single correct answer. You have to weigh your options and go for the setup that will fit your ride style.

SWAP THE FREEHUB

All DFCN rear hubs have a cap that holds the cassette body in place. To remove the cap, use 2 allen keys (5mm) on either side and loosen. Once the cap on the Drive Side is removed, you can slide off the body. Now you can slide on the new body and place the cap back on. Gently tighten the cap.

NOTE: Rotate and at the same time gently push the body onto the hub. Otherwise you might crush the internal seal on the hub!

CRASH REPLACEMENT PROGRAM

Yes, there is. Please read more about it here.

EXTERNAL NIPPLES

After receiving feedback from our customers, dealers and service people, we decided to go for practicality and user preference instead of a possible marginal gain in aerodynamic performance.

Especially with the trend towards a tubeless setup, it is very convenient to tweak a spoke without removing a tubeless tire, milk and tape.

TUBELESS READY

All EDCO 2023 wheels are Tubeless Ready.
